I'm in a remote region of Kerry.  My best possible hope of getting work is to move to Tralee.  Does anyone know how I should approach the Social Welfare with this problem?  I have been told by others that I could get cut off entirely and have to sign on again in the new part if the county I move to...does the Social Welfare/Local Offices not communicate with eachother?  Surely I just inform them of the new address and confirm that my outgoings are the same (I do not as yet claim any rent allowance from the Health Board - I have a basic JSA claim) I have seen on different sites that a long delay could ensue before being paid again due to a move.  This would scupper me entirely as I would then be unable to even survive in Tralee!  No money for rent and no job!  If I tried to search for work in Dublin (where rent is much much higher) would I be in the same predicament?  Or is it easier to move around in one's own county or locality?  I just wonder if I will have to sign on again in the new area I go to?  My HOPE would be that my local office would simply transfer my claim smoothly across to my new/proposed address.  Does anyone know it does actually work?  Do I tell them before I go?  Tell them after I have moved? What's the procedure?  Don't want to ask my local office directly yet as do not wish to stir up a sleeping dog so to speak.  Would be grateful for any tips on this topic of moving while claiming dole in my search for work....Many thanks in advance for any help given.

I doubt you would have any problems at all dear as it sounds your doing your best to get work. I would think your Social Welfare office would do everything to help you find work even if it will mean relocating to find it. It is best to talk with them on the telephone always. They are very noce people.
